BAREFOOT ENGINEERING

Indie rock from Indy. Barefoot Engineering is three guys pushing past 40 that honed our chops playing in local punk bands Project Bottlecap and The Brokenhearted in the times of dial-up internet and the fear of Y2K.

Daniel (Guitar/Vocals) and Adam (Bass) started playing music together in 1998. Daniel  played drums in an old school punk band (ironically) named "Something Gone Wrong" and invited Adam to play rhythm guitar.  The two connected immediately and "Something Gone Wrong" played three more shows before the band fizzled out.  At their final show, Adam ran into an old friend Jasin Thomason  (The Ataris, Project Bottlecap, InCalico) who was looking to start a new band. After their first practice, Jasin invited his friend Pat to sing. Pat, Jasin, Adam and Daniel wrote and performed 3 originals and played 2 covers at that first show... that was the birth of Project Bottlecap.  Over the next few years Project Bottlecap would record several demo EPs, two full-lengths and play nearly 100 shows from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

As their time in Project Bottlecap neared an end, Daniel and Adam formed The Brokenhearted, Josh jumped on drums a few months later. Over the years The Brokenhearted recorded two albums and played out a ton. As the years passed, the band went through a ton of name changes eventually landing on Barefoot Engineering.

Throughout their time as musicians, they've been able to warm the crowd up for so many legends in the scene: Thrice, Brand New, Pop Unknown, The Ataris, Alkaline Trio, Pollen, Hot Rod Circuit, Ultimate Facebook, The Lawrence Arms, Cadillac Blindside, Digger and countless others.

Barefoot Engineering plays 90s-inspired indie rock loud, hard and (arguably) fast. Taking cues from personal favorites Knapsack, Hot Rod Circuit, Jawbox, Foo Fighters, and Jimmy Eat World, and they’re ready to take the dive bars and basements of the midwest by storm... that is, when they have enough PTO to take off work and it doesn't conflict with their children's extracurricular activities.
